Cinderella® in Wet Baths

All Cinderella incinerating toilet models have been successfully tested in wet rooms however, as with all certifications and permissions, there are guidelines to adhere. This article is aimed to answer the most commonly asked questions regarding wet room installations and IP-Ratings, while providing limitations specific to each model.

IP Rating (Ingress Protection) - What does it mean?

• Ingress Protection ratings, also known as IP ratings are a standard classification system used to indicate the level of protection provided by electrical enclosures against the intrusion of foreign objects, such as dust, debris and water.

• IP (Ingress Protection) ratings are usually written as "IP" followed by two (2) digits.
  
  - The first digit refers to protection against solid objects (like dust). The numbers range from 0 to 6. The higher the number, the greater the protection.
  
  - The second digit refers to protection against liquids (like water). The number will range from 0 to 9. For instance, a rating of 0 means no protection against water, while a rating of 9 suggests protection against powerful jets of water.
• All Cinderella models are Rated IP-34 meaning they are certified to be installed where water can be splashed onto the unit.
• First digit (3): Protection against solid objects larger than 2.5 mm (e.g., tools, wires). It means that the device is moderately protected against physical objects.
• Second digit (4): Protection against water splashing from all directions. It means that the device can withstand water splashing without harmful effects, but it’s not fully waterproof or designed for submersion.
• The main issue that will come up with stationary models are users who will attempt to press the buttons on the control panel while it's covered in water (pooling water resting on electrical components). This will be similar for the Travel panel l if not sealed correctly, but the control panel can also be placed outside the shower depending on installation location.

Cinderella Comfort (Electric-Stationary)

• The Comfort is a closed-air system, with the lid, seat and shell sealed making it suitable for Zone-1

Cinderella Freedom (Propane-Stationary)

• Zone-2 is generally acceptable for the Cinderella Classic and Freedom. These units take in fresh air using an open-air ventilation system. The vent holes in the bottom could very well draw excess moisture or water into the toilet.

• The below diagram highlights the locations of the air intakes on the underside of the Cinderella Freedom. This is where 80% of the fresh air will be drawn in from ventilation open under the toilet.

Cinderella Travel (Propane-Mobile)

• The Travel is vented similar to the Comfort and the shell has a seal around the openings making it suitable for Zone-1

Other Considerations

• Many installers will use silicon sealant, adding dielectric grease to electrical components and/or have used a toilet cover to ensure the unit is protected from water damage.
• Wipe off any excess water from the unit and components before use.
• DO NOT use the control panel while wet.

Developing Your Maintenance Routine

Incineration toilets are a relatively recent innovation in North America, and as such, users may encounter some initial challenges. Unlike traditional plumbing systems, these toilets incorporate electronic, metallic, and other components that are subject to wear and tear.

Implementing effective maintenance routines can significantly reduce operating costs and minimize product wear. It is highly recommended that users adhere to the maintenance guidelines provided in the manual.

• Empty the toilet frequently. Do not base your use on the maximum limit of the appliance.
• Always clean the ash container and insert it when emptied.
• Always perform the steam cleaning preferably after each emptying and washing of the ash container. Once per day, or at least weekly depending on usage.
• Always observe the end result characteristics when emptying the toilet. Deviations in the end result may indicate the need for maintenance, installation adjustments or service.
