Martin Heater Start Up

Helpful information for starting your Martin heater

To successfully light and set up a new propane heater installation, bleed the gas line, hold the pilot button for 30–45 seconds, and click the ignitor every 5 seconds until the pilot lights. The first burn will produce a slight smell from manufacturing oil, which is normal.

What do I need to know for a new installation?

  • Always use the appropriate regulator.
  • You may have to bleed the gas line - hold the pilot button down for about 30-45 seconds, when turned to the lighting position, to allow the propane to flow through the system.
  • Click the ignitor every 5 seconds until the pilot is lit.
  • After an extended period of non-use, you may need to repeat the bleeding and lighting steps above to relight the pilot.
  • The first burn will have a slight smell; this is simply the manufacturing oil burning off and is completely normal.

What should I send to support if an issue occurs?
