Cinderella® Travel Gas Installation

The Cinderella Travel Propane model has been on the North American Market since 2023, but many installers still have questions!

Cinderella will advise us to ensure our clients are provided the correct product and corresponding information for their specific application. Cinderella being manufactured to the highest quality standards, and with such an investment, customers should ensure the installation is done correctly.

Many customers will install the Cinderella models on their own, but it's really best to hire a licensed professional or tradesperson. Not only does this keep your warranty intact, but it also ensures everything is set up safely and correctly for insurance purposes.

Cinderella Eco Group, a family-run business based in Midsund, Norway, has led the way in developing waterless incineration toilets for more than twenty-five years. They create and produce eco-friendly sanitation solutions for diverse international markets, continually establishing benchmarks for excellence, safety and innovation.

Cinderella Travel represents a totally new way to handle waste in RVs, campers, mobile homes, and boats easily, without the hassle of emptying in designated areas. The toilets are designed and produced in Norway, known for longevity and high quality with excellent capacity and sustainable, ecological design – without polluting outcomes. Cinderella® Travel provides a hygienic and easy way to dispose of toilet waste safely, either on the road or on the water.

Cinderella Travel was first launched on the market as ”Cinderella® Motion” in 2013 as a further product development from the popular incineration toilets provided by Cinderella Eco Group, which have been available since 1997. Environmentally friendly Travel currently available, only uses propane and 12V control power.

Pressure Requirements

For best results, we recommend that you seek the services of a professional installer; this will guarantee that the installation is performed with the utmost care and expertise, ensuring optimal performance. Propane and electrical must always be connected and tested by certified installer in order to maintain warranty.

An external regulator is always required to be installed for all propane appliances unless otherwise stated by the manufacturer. This can be any typical low-pressure BBQ regulator or similar installed and set to a maximum of 1/2 PSI or 14” WC maximum.

For all new propane Cinderella toilet installations (Travel or Freedom models), the internal regulator must be tested adjusted per OEM recommendations, by a licensed propane technician ensuring the Maxitrol regulator is set to 17.3 mBar. We find propane installers are adjusting for each installation after testing and depending on where you are in the country (or the world) will change the combustion based on butane levels in propane.

Gas Lines and Connections

Cinderella recommends using 8mm (5/16”) or 10mm (3/8") pipe to connect to the toilet's adapter for a safe and secure connection. Some clients have used converter fittings, though the original connection must be maintained for its UL certification. Please see photo examples of Travel installations with an 8mm (5/16”) to 10mm (3/8”) fitting connecting to the original 8mm elbow.

Other Considerations

Gas pressure changes with ambient temperature. If the temperature rises, the pressure in the bottle will also rise. For example, an ambient temperature of 20°C will amount to a pressure of approx. 8 Bar in the tank, while -10°C will result in a pressure of approx. 3 Bar.

The further south you go, the more butane is used in the gas, and in some places only butane is used in the gas bottles. Butane burns in the same way and can be filled in the same types of bottles as propane, but has some different characteristics.

The boiling point for butane is around 0ºC, which makes it unusable outdoors in winter. Another characteristic is that butane is somewhat more powerful than propane and produces more heat. Some have experienced that the gas equipment they have in their RV or mobile home are not designed for butane and may break or not ignite cleanly. You may experience that the burner “pops” in which case, it is advised to have this checked and tested by a certified propane installer.

There are currently 3 Cinderella models available and fully certified for North American use. The Travel manufactured with a propane ignition system for mobile applications and of course Freedom (propane) and Comfort (electric) models for stationary installations.
